Viewing Album:  Big Spring Rail System's first locomotives

Album Info:The City of Big Spring in West Texas owns an air/industrial park on what formerly was Webb AFB. With the help of a FRA grant, Big Spring has rebuilt the long unused 2 mile spur that interchanges with UP Toyah Sub just a few miles west of Union Pacific’s Big Spring yard. Big Spring Rail System (BSR) now has its first two switchers and soon will be serving several industrial customers in the area. The new rail facilities are coming at a perfect time because of the explosion of activity in the nearby Cline Oil Shale. The Cline lies 9-10 thousand feet below the surface and spreads across at least ten counties in the area. BSR is going to be busy.
